Llanllwchaiarn & Newtown Mothers’ Union

The Mothers’ Union is a worldwide Christian movement that has been supporting families and strengthening communities for more than 140 years. Founded in 1876 by Mary Sumner in her local parish, the organisation has grown into an international charity with over four million members across 84 countries, all united by a shared commitment to faith, family, and friendship.

Here in Llanllwchaiarn and Newtown, our local branch meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 2.30 pm at Mill Close. We are a friendly, young-at-heart group who enjoy fellowship, prayer, and the opportunity to make a difference both locally and further afield.

Each meeting begins with a short service, followed by an invited speaker who shares stories, insights, or experiences from a wide range of topics. Afterwards, there is always time to enjoy a cup of tea, homemade cake, and good conversation.

Our members support the local community through practical giving and prayer. We regularly donate to Newtown Food Bank and the Montgomery Family Crisis Centre, and we also contribute to the Mothers’ Union Overseas Fund and the AFIA (Away From It All) project, which provides short breaks for families facing difficult circumstances.
