Penygloddfa School Children’s Coffee Mornings at All Saints Church

On the first Monday of each month, children and staff from Penygloddfa School host a special coffee morning at All Saints Church, Newtown as part of a school well-being project. The mornings are open to everyone and have quickly become a joyful highlight in the church calendar, bringing together pupils, parents, grandparents, governors, and church members for a relaxed hour of laughter, games, and conversation.

Here’s what some of the children and guests had to say:

Katy: “It’s fun to play games with different people and it’s good to meet new people.”

Eddie, Phinley & Oliver: “We beat Rev Nia at Uno… but she did win one game! It’s good to escape from school for an hour. We love spending time in the lovely meeting room at church… and we like the biscuits!”

Lucy: “I like the coffee mornings — we get biscuits. I enjoyed playing Uno with Mum.”

Lucy’s Mum: “These coffee mornings are wonderful. It’s such a friendly, lovely and peaceful place at church. It’s good for the children to have this experience.”

A School Governor: “The interaction between children and adults is brilliant, with some of the adults being family and others church members. It’s a wonderful experience for both children and adults.”

Mrs Tammy Crees from Penygloddfa School shared this message:

“We are very grateful for all the support and hospitality shown to us by the church and the ladies who help to run our monthly well-being coffee mornings. Thank you.
It has been lovely to see how excited our Well-being Warriors have been to attend this event and how their confidence has grown as they speak and interact with others. They always look forward to coming, asking on their way out, ‘When is our next one? We love coming here!’

We are so pleased to strengthen our relationship with the church and to encourage this event as a time for people to get together, talk, and connect. It has created a calm, friendly space that benefits everyone’s mental health and well-being — children and adults alike. We look forward to building on this success as the year continues.”

These mornings are a true example of community in action, where school and church come together to share friendship, conversation, and kindness over coffee and cake. All are welcome to come along and be part of it.
